Drake One Dance UK

Drake scores his first UK number 1 single with 'One Dance'

**UPDATE (15/04/2016 17:58) It's official! Drake has finally hit the Number 1 spot on the Official Singles Chart as a lead artist, The Official Charts Company confirms. "One Dance," the latest single from his upcoming album Views From The 6, jumped 20 places from last week, achieving combined sales of 72,000 copies.

Drake is set to claim the top spot on this week’s Official Singles Chart with his latest track ‘One Dance’.

Surprisingly, Drake has never scored a solo number 1 record in the UK, the same also goes for the US. He came close with ‘Hotline Bling’, which peaked at number 3 in the UK last year. However, if ‘One Dance’ continues to climb the chart this week, this could be about to change.

After surprising fans with a double release last Tuesday (April 5), ‘One Dance’ zooms 20 places and looks set to claims the top spot on this Friday’s Official Singles Chart, The Official Charts Company reports. Further down the chart, Drake’s other new song ‘Pop Style’ (featuring Jay Z and Kanye West) looks set to enter the Top 40, currently at 28.

With talk of a possible Funky House revival, it’s interesting that ‘One Dance’, which samples a classic UK Funky House anthem, is zooming up the charts faster than a track which includes the star power of Jay Z and Kanye West in the UK.

In other news, Buzzfeed News is reporting that Drake's upcoming album Views From The 6 will be exclusive to Apple Music for one week (April 29). It is likely that Views From The 6 will hit other streaming platforms not long after its launch, in similar fashion to Kanye West's The Life Of Pablo.
