Drake's Summer Sixteen Tour is the highest-grossing in hip-hop history
After his hit ‘One Dance’ broke one billion streams on Spotify, making him the first artist to reach a billion on the streaming service, Drake now has another recording breaking feat under his belt. It’s just been announced that his Summer Sixteen tour is the highest-grossing tour in hip-hop history. The Toronto rapper was joined by Future for 54 tour stops across the US and, according to data collected by Poll Star Pro, tickets brought in $85 million (£69,173,177).
Jay Z and Kanye West previously claimed the title with their Watch The Throne Tour (2011-2012), which went on to rake in $75 million (£61,035,156). XXL also pointed out that the tour could’ve made even more money if they took the tour overseas. Also, Drake was forced to cancel a couple dates due to his ankle injury. Either way, it’s another win for Drake.
