Is Kendrick Lamar gearing up to release a new album in 2016? Well, one thing is for sure, Lamar is set to release new music this year.
The rapper’s label, Top Dawg Entertainment, posted a picture of their upcoming release schedule on Instagram last night (February 29). While the list revealed new projects from Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Isaiah Rashad and SZA will arrive later this year, it also alluded to new music from Kendrick Lamar, with the name ‘K.DOT’ and a note to “get Top on the phone” alongside it. On top of a supposed new project from Kendrick Lamar, the Instagram post also teased a possible Black Hippy release in 2017. The letters “BH,” a likely reference to TDE’s Black Hippy Crew (Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock, was written under the year 2017.
Kendrick Lamar released one of the most critically-acclaimed albums of last year. To Pimp A Butterfly was Lamar’s first album to debut at number 1 in the UK and US. He later went on to win five Grammy Awards at this year’s ceremony, including Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song for “Alright”.
