Miquita Oliver and Adam Deacon presenting the MOBO Awards 2012
British TV and radio personality Miquita Oliver and BAFTA-winning actor and director Adam Deacon will oversee the action on the night as the hosts of the 2012 MOBO Awards - and they're sure to make a formidable duo.
Miquita said: "I’m very excited as it’s my first awards show that l will be presenting – and it’s on the BBC, so it’s a big deal! MOBO is in such a great place at the moment, the biggest it has ever been and music of black origin is so influential these days – almost every song in the charts is influenced by this genre. Some of the biggest artists in the UK will be there – it’s very, very exciting. It is so important that we recognise music of black origin. When the MOBO’s were first launched in 1996 there was nothing else like it, it was a pioneer of its kind. Now, because the music is so relevant and chart topping, it doesn’t feel like a secret award anymore – everyone is interested in the type of music we are so proud of!"
Adam said: "I'm really excited and kinda nervous at the same time, this will be my first ever presenting job and on top of that it's gonna be live! But yeah I'm really looking forward to it. Getting up to Liverpool and meeting the people. It should be a fun night! I've grown up watching the show on TV and I've always been a massive supporter of the UK urban music scene, so to be asked to host the MOBO Awards this year is just great. It's been a good year for the scene and I'm proud to see so many real UK artists finally reach chart success. Saturday should be a celebration of all that hard work."
Let's get ready....
