A New TLC Album Is Happening, Raise Close to Half A Million Through Kickstarter
After surviving members T-Boz and Chili rose more than $430,000 through Kickstarter, TLC have confirmed that a new album is definitely in the works. The group announced their comeback in January by asking fans to help raise $150,000 for the project. The total was surpassed within three days and even received support from fellow musicians including Katy Perry, who personally donated $5,000 to the Kickstarter fund. As well as the incentive of a brand new TLC project, T-boz and Chilli also offered amazing memorabilia, personally signed records, voicemails from group members and even a “TLC Slumber Party.”
On concluding their fundraising push, the band released a statement that said: “Thank you to everyone who has donated to our final album!! The amount doesn’t matter but the fact that you donated means the world to us.”
At present, Ron Fair has signed up to the project as an executive producer, while rumours are circulating that the duo will be working with other high profile names. To date, TLC has sold more than 65 million records worldwide and ranked as the best-selling American female group of all time. No word yet on if the upcoming project with feature unreleased vocals from Left Eye.
