Skepta Nigeria playground

Skepta helps build a playground in his dad's Nigerian village

On Sunday (February 28), Skepta took to Instagram to unveil a project he, his mother and his father have dreamed of and worked on for some time: a playground for the youth in his father’s village in Nigeria. “Me and my Dad been talking about making a place for the children to play in his village in Nigeria,” he wrote on Instagram. “He sent me these pics and my heart is smiling, I told him to wait for me to come and add the finishing touches but he wanted my Mum to open it before she flew to London tomorrow haha, sweet boy ting.”

In a later post, Skepta revealed that he hoped the playground will “inspire kids to get into activities and maybe find talents they never knew they had”. In his cover interview with The Fader last year, the MOBO Award-winner opened up about his desire to cement his success by building a home for his parents in Nigeria, saying: “For them to look back on this and say, ‘You know what? That’s what we went to England for."
