Watch the First Trailer for Idris Elba's Explosive New Black Power Series ‘Guerrilla’

In addition to his blockbuster films, we’ve also got Idris Elba’s Sky Atlantic series, Guerrilla, to look forward to this year. Starring and produced by Elba, the show is a six-part series following a couple who liberate a political prisoner in an era when black activism was actively quashed by a special Branch unit. The Sky Original Production explores what could have happened if the original Black Power movement had used violence.

"Guerrilla has been the culmination of many ambitions. First and foremost, the opportunity to tell a little-known story from our recent history, a story which not only feels relevant to our life in London today but informs our understanding of it," Elba enthused.

Set in 1970s London, the thought-provoking drama features an all-star cast including Idris Elba, Slumdog Millionaire’s Freida Pinto, Spectre’s Rory Kinnear, Daniel Mays and National Treasure’s Babou Ceesay. Guerilla is also created by 12 Years A Slave award-winning writer John Ridley.

Check out the full trailer below and make sure you tune into Guerrilla on April 13 on Sky Atlantic.
