UPDATE (15/11/2018 15:09 PM): It's official! Stormzy has been announced as the first headliner of Glastonbury Festival.

As Metro and The Independent reports, the Somerset festival appear to have announced the exciting news by plastering posters in windows of Oxfam shops on Thursday (November 15). It also reveals the MOBO Award-winner will grace Worthy Farm’s Pyramid Stage on Friday 28 June.

Under the Glastonbury Free Press logo, the poster says:

‘Stormzy Friday! First Glastonbury headliner revealed!

There are already speculations about next year’s headliners for Glastonbury line-up. As NME reports, major festival website eFestival has a post on their forum (from a site admin) which names MOBO Award-winner Stormzy as Glastonbury’s headliner for the Friday slot.

The full quote says:

“A couple of weeks ago we ran the rumour that Stormzy was to headline the Friday night at Glastonbury. We’ve now had that confirmed, with either Childish Gambino or Liam Gallagher also taking a key slot that night. Which makes the other headliners mooted – The Cure on Saturday and Paul McCartney on Sunday – both seem plausible. Noel Gallagher is playing next year.”

Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, Liam Gallagher, Paul McCartney, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen are among talent speculated to be featured on the festival bill. If the rumours are true, it will be a massive achievement for Stormzy as he will become the very first Grime artist to headline Glastonbury festival.

If you’re looking to get tickets to Glastonbury 2019, you may have missed your chance as tickets went on sale last month and sold out within 35 minutes, although re-sale tickets will be available in the new year.

In other Stormzy news, he recently celebrated the release of his debut book Rise Up: The #Merky Story So Far. Available to purchase in most major retailers and online, co-written and edited by Jude Yawson, Rise Up is an autobiography detailing the story of Stormzy’s humble beginnings to his current household name status. The book also features lyrics, comments from those close to him and rare and unseen photos.
