Trevor Nelson and Kelis presented the 2001 MOBO Awards at the London Arena on October 4 – a night which features performances from Samantha Mumba, Mis-Teeq, Beverley Knight, So Solid Crew and R Kelly.
Oxide and Neutrino, a breakaway faction of So Solid Crew, took away Best Video for ‘Up Middle Finger’ after being nominated for three MOBO Awards. So Solid Crew themselves won Best UK Garage Act as the genre soared, while Best UK Act Craig David followed up his 2000 Best Newcomer gong with something even bigger.
Destiny’s Child and Usher also won big, with R Kelly performing on the night and closing the ceremony with a tribute to victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
