#MOBOAWARDS
Wednesday 26th October 2016, London, England – Fresh from quick-stepping and waltzing his way across the Strictly Come Dancing stage MELVIN ODOOM and his KISS Breakfast Show co-host RICKIE HAYWOOD-WILLIAMS are poised to take on the 21st anniversary celebrations of the MOBO Awards hosting the two-hour extravaganza, which will be broadcast live on ITV2 on Friday 4 November in Glasgow.
The award-winning radio and TV duo are already instantly recognisable as one of this generation’s broadcasting superstars. Now they set their sights on the famous MOBO Awards stage.
Rickie and Melvin said: “Glasgow are you READY??! Wait until you see what we have in store for you! Our kilts are ironed, bagpipes tuned and dance steps fully in check. It’s going to be a night you do not want to miss!”
The hilarious dynamic duo, praised for their infectious banter, won Silver at the Sony Radio Academy Awards in 2009 and wasted no time in taking it further by winning Gold for Best Breakfast Show in 2012 – which is pretty much the highest prestige in the radio industry. They have also made their mark on ITV as hosts of Bang On The Money. Expect the unexpected and maximum fun with these two crowd favourites guiding you through one of UK music’s night of nights.
The 2016 MOBO Awards will feature special performances from Craig David, Laura Mvula, Tinie Tempah, Chase & Status, Lady Leshurr, Wiley, Clean Bandit, Anne-Marie, Popcaan and many more.
Grime kings Skepta and Kano are both up for Best Male, Best Album and Best Grime Act this year, turning this into one of the most heavily anticipated MOBO Awards results in history.
Elsewhere, will Craig David round up an incredible comeback year by taking home two more MOBO Awards? The multi-talented rapper, singer and producer is up for Best Male and Best Song. Another hugely anticipated battle lies in the coveted MOBO Best Newcomer category. Previous winners of this category such as Rita Ora, Tinie Tempah and Jessie J have gone from relatively unknown to global superstars!
Birmingham soul singer Laura Mvula is up for a whopping four nominations this year, including Best Female Act alongside strong contenders like Lady Leshurr, Little Simz, Katy B and Nao.

MOBO Awards
The MOBO Awards were established in 1996 by Kanya King MBE to recognise the outstanding achievements of artists in musical genres ranging from soul and reggae to hip hop, grime and afrobeats. It is one of the world’s leading urban music brands and now in its 21st year, the awards are a celebration of top musical and cultural achievements.
Over the years, MOBO have evolved into an all-year round movement supporting emerging as well as established talent across various musical and other creative genres as it pursues its mission to create more opportunities and platforms for talent that might otherwise go unnoticed.
For many artists, especially those who are independent, the MOBO Awards exemplifies success through struggle and hard work and is a point of reference for enterprising achievement.
Via our talent development programme and fellowships, MOBO empower and nurture emerging talent through understanding different elements of the industry which is key for a successful career, not just in the music industry, but the creative industry as a whole.
